İZMİR CLOCK TOWER

Brief History

İzmir Clock Tower is a historical clock tower built in İzmir in 1901 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Ottoman Sultan II Abdülhamid's accession to the throne. It is 25 meters and approximately 14 people high of 180 cm tall.

It is located on an octagonal and four-stepped cross-shaped marble platform on an 81 square meter floor. You can start your haptic review here. First, you can touch the stair steps leading to the marble platform. Just after the steps, you will reach the fountain with taps on three sides. There are a total of four of these fountains, one at each corner of the tower. You can touch the domed entrance doors in the middle of the fountains on each side of the tower, on the right and left corners. In the middle of the fountain, there is a round marble pool with feet. The roof of the fountain, which rises on four thin columns, is surrounded by a tiny carved wall. You can touch the dome in the middle of its roof. When you reach the second floor of the clock tower, you can touch the many thin columns on this floor. When you continue up the columns, you reach the balcony that surrounds the body of the clock tower. You can start to examine the octagonal body in the middle of the balcony. The body of the clock tower is made of cut stone. The surface you touch shows the geometrical engravings on the surface of the stone. Continuing upwards, you will first reach the small balconies on all four sides of the tower. As you continue upwards from the balconies, you will notice that the trunk expands. The structure here consists of architectural decorations. Just above this structure, you can touch a total of four clock-faces, in all directions of the tower.

The upper floor of the clocks is the fourth floor of the tower. In this section, which is located on an octagonal platform, there is an octagonal structure resembling a fountain. As you continue, you can touch the dome of the tower and then the crescent in the middle of the dome.
